Lower Back and Spine

Spinal pain and back problems is one of the most common issues chiropractors see for a number of reasons.  Nationally it is a very common problem : The Chief Executive of the Health and Safety Executive in 2006 stated that back pain affected 1 in 4 people and resulted in 4.5 million days off work a year (HSE Press Website, accessed 31/01/16 at http://www.hse.gov.uk/press).

Spinal manipulation/mobilisation as applied by a qualified and regulated chiropractor is seen as effective in adults for acute, sub-acute and chronic lower back pain (Effecetiveness of manual therapies: the UK evidence report. Bronfort et al, 2010).

An important factor relating to all physical complaints that involve pain or discomfort, including your back, is to get assessed by a regulated primary care clinician such as a chiropractor.  As a chiropractor often our primary focus is function, and restoring normal function to alleviate pain and/or discomfort using a wide range of techniques as required.  Everybody is different and it is important to design a plan of management around each individual.  After a case history and examination, that is exactly what we do with you to ensure you can achieve your goals from care.

If you have any questions or you are in doubt as to whether we can help.  An assessment (full case history and examination) is always the best first step.  From there we can correctly advise you and you can then make an informed decision as to how you best seek care for your complaint.
